My experience was great at Keyes Chevrolet! Mr. Ali was very friendly, kind and accommodating to my mother and I. He spent ample time with us throughout the process of the lease and also helped us attain car insurance as well. He is top of the line when it comes to car salesman! All of the other employees were nice and helpful as well. I will definitely recommend this dealership to friends & we will be back in a couple months for my mothers car. Thanks for the wonderful service!!

I went to my car dealership service department, to have them check my engine light and tires coz im having a hard time with it since I got it from my dealer so I really need someone to help me out and have it check. When I got there, a very friendly service consultant greeted me and offered to help me out. He-s name is Jerry Roxas. We get along really well, he knew how to make me comfortable and secured. He conduct a visual inspection of my car then he correctly determine what type of problem my car was having. He provided me a written estimate of the work that may be required for the repair, along with estimated parts and labor costs. I knew he was the one talking to the mechanic or technician to help me out about what may be wrong with my car, and I doesn-t even feel worried because I knew it was in good hands. He also calls me to update me about my car which is also helping me not to be worried about what-s going on. I never feel much secured like this before. He also make transportation arrangements for me, since the service that is required will take an extended period of time to complete. Right now, I can say I-m very happy and satisfied and looking forward to recommend him to my friends and colleagues.

This was my first time in Keyes of Van Nuys, I have to say this has been the best experience yet. I have taken my car to numerous car dealerships i.e Thousand oaks, rancho cucamonga, and covina, the service in Keyes Van Nuys exceeded my expectations and does not compare to these other cities. For starters i called very early in the morning to book a service, 30 minutes later my car was getting serviced. At soonest I pulled up in the bay Jerry Roxas was already at my driver door asking questions, meaning i didnt have to wait for me to park and walk in to the facility. Shuttle service is a perfect ten, my driver-s name was Ramiro. He made my shuttle commute to-from work very entertaining and I am not a morning person without coffee. I really recommend this place.

Recently I was invited to the Keys Chevy in Van Nuys, CA, because they were having deals on new vehicles. I was in the 3rd year lease of my 2011 Chevy Malibu. I was approached by Arman, the salesman. Very friendly individual. We walked the lot for an hour, looking at several options. I testdrove few. He was very patient. I finally found the car with the color I wanted. Got a excellent offer I could not refuse. They took my old car, gave me the new, took care of the paperwork smoothly. Helped me with the OnStar subscription. Overall, I had a very nice experience. Very productive 4 hours spent at the dealership. Thanks to the whole team. I love my new 2013 Chevy Malibu LS.----Grigor

I had the best experience that a woman can have in a dealership!!! I was not sure that I wanted to buy a car that day. You were the first person to approach me, and you were so personable and informative, that I was immediately put at ease! Dan M. was very, very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with! I was a little bit scared because I had this idea that a sales person will push you to buy a car, but Dan is different! I didn-t feel any pressure and I bought it because I liked the car and because of this great sales man DAN!!! Helen

Tony and the rest of the staff at Keyes were absolutely fantastic helping me buy my first car after moving to LA from New York. I had been to several dealerships, and none of the sales people would adhere to my budget, until I got to Keyes. Tony listened to my questions, spent a good amount of time with me, and found me the perfect car.

Walking on a car lot without my husband and with 3 young teenagers was not an appealing thought at first. But, from the moment that Ray introduced himself to signing the papers hours later, my experience was nothing but positive. There was no pressure, all my questions were answered and I got a really good deal. Peter and Ray, you were absolutely wonderful in helping me get my car. Thank you so much.

I LOVE my volt - and my experience with Keyes was AMAZING! I knew exactly what I wanted, and it seemed the car with the features I wanted did not exist - I called Keyes in the evening on a whim -having been warned by everyone to not talk to or go myself to a big dealership like Keyes- immediately got Tony Kojayan, and bought the car over the phone!----I couldn-t believe I was buying a car from someone I-d never met, who was in a big dealership. I told Tony what I wanted, expecting nothing but pressure and a sales pitch -like I got elsewhere- - he found the car, called me back, took pictures of it and emailed them to me, and held the car until I could get there the next morning.----I brought my husband thinking I needed support, that I-d be inundated by pressure and dishonesty - and I got nothing but help, support, easy-goingness, kindness, efficiency, and real care from Tony and the entire staff. Peter in finance was totally incredible! ----They worked it out so I signed some papers, then learned about how to use the Volt -I-m not very techy, so it was a challenge for me to even understand that the car would answer my iphone - but Tony was extraordinary patient and sweet-, then went back to finish up paperwork, so I was out of there quickly - and feeling GREAT!----I haven-t had one moment of -quot-buyer-s remorse-quot- -which is something I-m known for in my family- and ADORE my Volt.----I-m shocked to be saying this - but the Keyes dealership experience was fantastic. I felt truly taken care of in a totally relaxed way. If you want a Volt - go to Tony.

Another very satisfied KEYES customer!! I have been following several of the threads on this forum over the last 2 weeks or so (as well as reading a number of prior ones) and pulled the trigger today on a Volt from KEYES Chevy in Van Nuys, California. After trading several messages with Shawn, I texted and then spoke to the GM Rick Alpern by phone. He assured me the car I was looking for was on the lot and promised he would be there waiting for me and my wife when we arrived.
My wife and I got there early and waited a few minutes for Rick to come out. He greeted us and personally walked us out onto the lot. As it turns out, they had a number of Volts which had just arrived. Rick spent about 15 minutes with us, as my wife decided which color and options she wanted (since there were a number to choose from) and then went back to the dealership and sent a dedicated Volt salesperson -- Tony -- out to meet with us.
Tony was great from the moment he greeted us until the moment he sent us home in the vehicle. Very knowledgeable about the car and a good sense of humor to boot. My wife ended up deciding to go with black with pebble interior. We took the car for a test drive with Tony and he showed us a lot of different features on the vehicle. We then went back to the showroom, completed the paperwork and the deal was exactly as advertised on the forum (see Shawn's earlier post regarding current offerings).
As we waited for the paperwork to be completed, Rick personally came over and chatted with us for about 30 minutes. After deciding on a vehicle and completing the test drive, it took about 90 minutes or so to have the paperwork completed and the deal done and then Tony spent additional time going over various features of the car.
Long story short: the deal was as advertised and everyone we met at Keyes (including Serge in finance) could not have been nicer and more pleasant to deal with. Based on the other activity in the showroom, my impression is that they moved 3-4 other Volts today alone (perhaps more) and they had a lot of colors and packages to choose from. Can't recommend them highly enough!!
Oh, and the car, is awesome, but I guess that goes without saying!! Thanks Shawn for the heads up about KEYES and thanks to Rick, Tony and the rest of the KEYES staff -- all of whom made it a truly enjoyable car shopping experience!!
My positive buying experience with Keyes was less than two weeks ago. Since then the positive experience continues. I've owned/leased 17 cars in my lifetime. I have NEVER been more excited about a vehicle since my first vehicle as a 16 year old in 1977 (a '68 Pontiac Firebird). This Volt is absolutely amazing and when asked about it, I have to refrain from gushing.
Today, after just 12 days of ownership and 400 miles on the odometer, my plates arrived. This is remarkable, as my previous vehicles (from Fords to BMW's) all took at least 60-90 days to arrive. Nice job Keyes! I thought it would be months before I could apply for my carpool lane sticker (you must have plates/DMV registration before you can apply). I just popped the forms in the mail. No doubt the DMV wont be as efficient as Keyes!
Now the wait for my vanity plates: "20 AMPS". Watch for me in the Valley and Hollywood
Just leased from Keyes - one LA local's experience I have been researching the Volt for months but had not had the time until this week to really shop around and test different dealers' approaches to making their Volt customers happy. The caveat is that I do live in downtown Los Angeles, so I'm sure I'm in the best environment there is for finding a great local deal.
I chose to buckle down and find a car this weekend because of the huge cap cost rebate on the 2012 models and every dealer prioritizing the movement of those old models.
Initially I was looking for a 2012 base Volt in black with a 36/12 lease, thinking this would get me the best deal. Most local dealers were willing to do that lease for around $1400 down and $325/month.
I felt really good, then, when Harbor Chevrolet in Long Beach had a price that allowed them to do that lease for $1500 down and $272/month. Upon reconsidering my mileage requirements, to be on the safe side I decided I wanted a 15k lease, not 12, and Harbor could do that for just slightly higher cash down and $300/month, still by far a better deal than I could get anywhere else - or so I thought.
I was ready to go pick it up last night (Fri 8/17/12), but the car had been on display at a local AAA so I had to wait until today.
However, no sooner did I go searching for tips on my soon-to-be-leased 2012 Volt than I stumbled across these forums and saw Shawn's post about the deals on fully loaded 2013s that Rick Alpern is offering at Keyes. This is like 8:15PM in LA - 45 minutes to close for Keyes.
I texted Rick and he immediately texted back with a variety of options on a 15,000-mile lease, one of which was $2500 down and $283/month on a 24-month lease. This was the first time I'd been aware that the payments on a 2-year lease could be LOWER than a 3-year.
I texted Rick some questions and around 9:30PM, on his way home, he called me and walked me through the high-volume Volt business he is trying to do and the structure of the leases. He had three loaded 2013 Volts in hand as of last night, two in my preferred black color, and assured me that one could be mine if I showed up when they opened at 8:30 this morning.
Sure enough, I arrived at 8:20 this morning to find Rick already in work mode. He warmly greeted me and my girlfriend and to make a short story even shorter, I drove away in a brand new black 2013 Volt with every option except premium wheels at 10:30 this morning.
Final stats on the deal, after I opted for Ally's $829 SmartLease protection: 24 months, 15,000 miles, $3029 down, $287/month (w/o lease protection was $2500 down, $283/month).
Rick and his finance guy Sergio couldn't have been nicer, more helpful, or more focused on getting me out of there in my new Volt with the minimum amount of hassle.
I can't imagine the myriad extra factors the search process takes on for folks outside LA and sympathize with those who have been stuck waiting for weeks or months on QC holds and other delays. But for this Los Angeles local, Rick and Keyes have delivered just about the perfect, approximately 12-hour soup-to-nuts experience this customer could have hoped for.
Thanks to the forum for being such a great resource; I look forward to staying engaged in the next months and years to get the most out of my - have to say it one more time while pinching myself - FULLY LOADED 2013 VOLT.
ANOTHER HAPPY CUSTOMER OF KEYES CHEVROLET
I finally took delivery of my fully loaded 2013 Volt ordered in July. First, I would like to thank Rick for ordering my car with the exact colors and options. He let me lock in a great deal on Sept. 4. He also made sure that my car would be ready for me to pick up in such a short notice (my car arrived dealership on Wednesday and I picked it up Friday morning). During my life time so far (I am a senior), I have purchased many new vehicles but this is my best car-buying experience and the best deal I received from a car dealer. The transaction was smooth without any hassle. Thanks also go to Asaf who met me at Burbank Airport and took care of all details of delivering my car. I also appreciate Sergio who did all the sales paper works. There are more paper works than in 2008 when I bought a new Camry Hybrid. Lastly, I also want to thank Shawn and all other forum members who have posted valuable info in regards to great deals on buying and leasing a new Volt. I love my Volt. So far, I have only driven 340 miles but the estimate electric miles from the battery already shows 38 miles with a fully charged battery. I think I can easily get over 40 miles per charge later when I break the car in. Attached are two pictures showing my new Volt.
Asaf and Sergio rock. I wanted a 2012 Silver Ice fully loaded model. At the time Keyes only had 2013 models, and while I would have had the newest and latest, I like the black roof and hatch accents (especially with silver). Well, Asaf cast a net far and wide and found my car in Costa Mesa ~100 mile round-trip for him. No problem, he drove down and picked it up for me!
Great buying experience at Keyes.
I love my Volt. Just turned 1000 on the odometer. Gas cost since my purchase five weeks ago; $0.00
Keyes Chevrolet - helping America drive Volt happily.
New 2013 Volt from Keyes Chevrolet It has taken me a couple of days to post--been very busy getting up to speed on 240 vs 120 charging and multiple rebates etc. etc
We just leased a 2013 Summit White, black interior-base model with add of Safety Package. 36 month lease, $3,000 drive off, $240 a month (without sales tax). I shopped all over Central and Northern Calif., ended up leasing with Keyes. They are very fluent in "Volt Speak" and were great to deal with. They were able to have Joe deliver the car to us up here in central CA. Rick Alperin and Joe were both straight forward and very savvy re: Ally leases etc.
Here in the San Joaquin Valley, the Volt qualifies for an additional $2,000 rebate in addition to the $1,500 from the state of California. Add the gasoline savings and the lease payment is almost a negative number.
Best of all, we are loving the Volt!!
Like Patti, I am a little late in posting my purchase at Keyes a week ago. My wife and I drove the 450 miles from Chandler AZ to deal with Rick. It was a fantastic experience. Even got to meet and talk to Shawn who was very nice and informative. We purchased a '13 Cyber Red w/Pebble Beige leather and fully loaded. Got the deal you've seen here several times ($2500 below invoice with another $500 off for signing the 60 day return waiver). Mine was a purchase and I had no problem signing the waiver because I've been following the Volt on the forum and anywhere else I could get info and knew I would love it-which I do. I am still pondering which way I will go for the level 2 charger. As I posted yesterday about my quote from SPX, I can buy the Voltec and install it myself for about $90 less than my portion of the cost for the Blink. Any feedback along those lines would be appreciated. Thanks for putting up with my ramble.
Excellent service from Keyes Chevy today... I have a 2013 Volt charging in my garage thanks to Rick and Joe from Keyes Chevy out of California. I offered to write this post based on their surprising level of service.
I'm in AZ and had worked with a dealer in Scottsdale. I wanted something specific and after the dealer realized I was not going to buy one of their 2012's, they agreed to grab a 2013 from CA. I was told it would take 7 days, which turned into 20. I sold my CTS-V in the meantime, on their recommendation, and was paying for a rental at this point. I finally gave up on them and because of this forum, reached out to Rick at Keyes on a Saturday.
Rick gave me the details on the volume of Volt sales his location does and his goal to be the number one Volt dealer in the country. I gave him the details of what I wanted and he stated he had "three of those coming in." Again, I had just been through the same story with a different dealer and wanted assurance. He offered to send me pictures of the car when it arrived on Tuesday. I agreed and we went over lease options. I volunteered that I would also be checking with other states to see what they could provide. Rick offered to put one of his guys in the car and drive it to my office. I would then get his salesman, Joe, a plane ticket back home.
On Monday, Rick text pictures of the exact car I asked for, a day early. Had it been earlier in the day, it would have been already on the road to me. To my surprise, Joe started his trip to AZ at 5am this morning and showed up at my office before lunch. We did the paperwork in my lobby and he was on a plane and hour later. Joe said he would have time to sell another one before the dealership closed tonight. My team could not believe the dealer drove the car out on a verbal handshake. He even drove it part of the way in Hold Mode to ensure it had battery left for the test drive.
Due to my prior experience, I somewhat expected there to be an unfortunate surprise...a scratch, a higher payment, unexpected fees...none of that happened. Everything was exactly what we had discussed via text and voicemail.
I've bought a ton of cars, some at twice as much as the price of the Volt. I've shipped cars from the East Coast and just across town. I've simply never had a transaction that was this easy with the level of service this dealer delivered on.
Thank you to the members of this forum and to Keyes Chevy.
I had a great experience with Keyes too. I wanted a 2012 in a certain color, fully loaded. With the 2013's arriving, the pickings were pretty slim. But, They found one at another dealership and my salesman went to pick it up for me. The only thing about this car was that it had Lo-Jack; a $400 extra which would increase my monthly payment by $7. I dont understand.. With On-Star, what does anyone need Lo-Jack for? I absolutely love this car! Oh, and Unlike you, I live just five minutes from the dealership!
Rick, is a total class act and a straight shooter.
Great experience aT keyes chevy! Thanks Rick!
This has been the best car deal I've ever done out of all the deals I've done!
All negotiating done over the phone, negotiating being a loose term, more like here's the price what color do you want.
Then he had a salesmen drive out to me, sign papers and then droppingthe car off on Friday
Not to mention I got a '12 volt loaded, about 45k, non hov, with 1k miles for under 300 a month with about 1k down!
Great deal, great guy, great experience!
Roadtrip from Keyes with my new Black MY13 VOLT! Hey I'm new to the forum and last weekend I was fortunate enough to pick up my very own Volt. I've been lurking for over a year. However, I had a running car (2000 Jetta) and I couldn't get myself to take on a new payment until after 202k miles it started to finally reach the point where safety and repairs outweighed the value of the car! I was looking at MY12s in the San Francisco Bay Area but when I found out the Keyes could get me 2500 off invoice for a MY13 I decided to place an order for a Black with Black Leather (dark accents), bose speakers & safety package 1. I started to get a little impatient (not like JG though) about the timing as it looked like it wasn't going to come in before the dealer incentives expire this month. I found a local dealer who could get close to Keyes pricing but they did not have the inventory coming in that matched what I wanted. I saw that Rick had something in transit that matched my configuration but also had safety package 2 so I decided to pull the trigger on that one. Rick said no problem the car is mine and I noticed a day or so later it was no longer showing in his inventory in transit as it was mine!
Last weekend my wife and I flew from SF to Burbank (for $100 each). It was 100 degrees when we landed.. Joe, the sales guy Rick assigned, picked us up at the airport! Keyes is only about 7 miles from the airport so it was super convenient to fly down from SF. My car was sitting there waiting for us. We took a short test. Joe was much more knowledgeable about the car then some of the guys I spoke with when test driving in the Bay area. How do I get that green leaf ball thing to show up? Just press the config button. How do I put it in L mode to get the Regen breaks on? That's off the shifter. He says he's sold ~ 60 of them and it showed. It is definitely a better experience to test drive with someone who understands the car. We then proceeded to complete the paperwork. Everything was in order, the pricing was just like we agreed , no complications with the loan. We were on our way at 1:00 ready to head up to a BBQ in Santa Barbara.
So I got about 20 miles from the dealership when I ran over some debris on the road. With the bumper to bumper LA traffic I didn’t have time to react and avoid it so I just went over it. Well a few miles later I move the DIC to the Tire Pressure and notice the front left tire was significantly less than the others! Oh crap so I pull over get off at the next exit, pull into a chevron and get out to hear this psssssssssss. FLAT TIRE!!!! Now I knew there was no spare and immediately start to panic. Hit the onstar button and they are talking about sending out a tow truck? While on hold waiting for the Volt Specialist I remember reading about a compressor/fixaflat so I bust out the manual. When I get connected and he says well why do you want it towed when you have a compressor and can of fixaflat. Well I naturally agreed as I was well on my way and asked him how long I can ride on a tire with that. He said it depends and started calling around. Before I had the tire pumped up with the fixaflat stuff inside he had a Firestone in Santa Barbara that had a matching tire although not the exact brand. I then go on my way to seal the tire, add a bit more air and we are on our way. Well it was about 4 by the time we made it to the BBQ but all was well. Actually it was probably one of the easiest flat tires I’ve ever had. Noticing the pressure dropping before you are hitting the rim makes a huge difference, being able to get off the road and into a station makes a much less stressful situation. Anyway by the end of the trip we had driven almost 500 miles. Only 33.6 were electric as I burned a lot of juice sitting calling onstar, pumping up the tires and running the AC at 60 as I didn’t know how to change the temperature yet and that was the stock setting. Still I only burned 13 gallons of gas the whole trip driving mostly in sport/L mode with the AC in comfort mode. I got to use Mountain Mode as I came back through the Santa Cruz and climbed the hills to San Jose. Overall it was a real nice trip. I had a friend that went down and back in his van that same weekend and filled up his 16 gallon tank 2 times each way ! My gas/electric stats suck but that's ok I’ll build up my MPG now that I’m back in San Francisco. Most days I have a 25 mile commute each way so I’m looking forward to my all electric ‘Off the Grid’ commute! Here are a few pics also.
Also I want to thank Rick and Joe from Keyes. They got me a great deal that I could not get in my area. The whole experience to fly down there was super easy . My only complaints about the place are that its too damn hot in LA and that bumper to bumper traffic getting out of the area can be a killer!
The transaction was fast and painless.
I'm so baller I bought it over the phone and its being driven to my house in San Diego.
Rick, Shawn and Raymond [My sales guy] were easy to work with.
Raymond was extremely helpful in answering all my questions and fulfilling all my requests.
I forget the finance guys name, however he had a good tidbit of info on the 76% residual value;
He said it was way over-valuated and not worth purchasing. That's okay cause I'm planning to buy the next gen Volt in 2015.
After browsing around on the forums for awhile and seeing all of the deals from Keyes, I put one of the in-transit Volts on hold and had just been waiting for it arrive to get my paperwork done. When I saw Shawn's post today, however, I drove up to Keyes from Long Beach to get things squared away and lock in this deal. Rick wasn't expecting me, but made sure I was taken care of right away. I received the really amazing $3,000 off invoice deal with no haggling and had all the necessary paperwork squared away in a short amount of time with no fuss. I can't wait for my Volt to arrive and will post an update when it does.
HUGE shout out to Rick for getting a deal done last minute! Got the great Volt lease deal. This was the best car buying experience ever. I initially went shopping for a Ford focus on Saturday and came away from the dealer exausted and done with car shopping! My dad happened to be visiting from Utah and has had a Volt for a year and loves it. He saw the posts on the forum and let me know of the great deals. I had driven my dad's Volt before and so I didn't really need to test drive one. I called Rick late on Saturday and he got the ball rolling. I had previous plans for the weekend and wasn't able to get to the dealer. I called Rick Tuesday morning and he got me the great lease deal. He was able to make everything happen over the phone, and when I was not able to come in on Tuesday, sent someone to my office to sign the paper work. I can't wait for my new silver Volt to get here!
Thanks again Rick and Keyes ( and my dad for hooking me up with the forum!)
Wanted to send my Thank You to Rick and Joe for a great leasing experience. Picked up my fully loaded White 2013 Volt yesterday and Joe personally met me at the airport car rental company to deliver it. These guys were super easy to deal with. Some other posts mention no BS deals. I got the no BS deal too from Keyes. Will definitely buy from them again in the future.
Wow...glad I got in the 24 month lease last Wednesday with Rick..thanks Shawn for the emails communication and info which caused me to jump on this deal.
Got the Black with Safety 1..not first choice of color but looks sharp when clean! Hope I can keep it clean
Thanks again Shawn! See my earlier separate post from this evening about our great experience at Keyes earlier today. And yes, black is a great choice! My wife arrived at the dealership today looking to get the Volt in white or silver and left with it in black with pebble interior. Beautiful car and fun to drive. Thanks again to everyone at KEYES!!
So I called Rick yesterday and he got back to me pretty quickly and I told him exactly what I was looking for (Red Volt with all the bells and whistles). He didn't have one in stock, but he told me he would see what he could find in the morning.
So this morning he touched base to let me know that he was looking and within a couple of hours he had found the car (the same one I had been looking at with his team on Sunday that was located at another local dealer). He confirmed that he would set me up with the same deal he's been giving people on this forum (a couple of thousand under invoice) and I told him I would be in after work to pick it up. Pretty much that easy.
Went in this evening and now I have a brand-new Volt. I am sorry to see my beloved Acura CL go, but it was time.
So for the particulars.
The MSRP was $45,725
The Gross Capitalized Cost was $42,150
I got the rebate from Ally of $3370
I got $3k on my trade-in (which was low, but I don't have the time to be messing around with trying to sell my old car)
So the adjusted CCR after first payment, taxes, fees, etc. was $5,109
Total base scheduled payments ends up at $12,684
I end up with a monthly payment of $383, which is interesting because my wife was insisting that we come in at $380/month.
Keep in mind that this was a car that was not on the Keyes lot so there was a little less off the amount under invoice as he had to pay shipping to get it there, but at the end of the day, I'm pretty pleased with the end result. I wish we could have gotten there on Sunday with the other salespeople, but clearly the same rules for sales do not apply to the General Manager.
So the moral of this story is....call Rick directly
Long time lurker, first time poster. My significant other and I have been looking at various EVs and decided to to go with the Volt. I have been working with a local dealer and it has been 2 weeks of phone tag plus pressure to buy a Volt not 100% to our (her ) liking. Thankfully I found this thread.
Working with Keyes Chevrolet has been an excellent experience. I'm not kidding when I say Rick Alpern responded within 5 minutes of my initial email. Within 10 minutes, he emailed me details on a 2013 Volt with specs that matched everything we (she) wanted. I called him the first chance I had a spare moment and we nailed down the final details. Done deal in less than hour. Deposit check went into the mail in the afternoon. Looking forward to flying in from the San Francisco Bay area and driving the Volt home.
Hey guys, just wanted to post another great experience buying a Volt from Keyes Chevy. I got the advertised forum pricing and was in and out of the dealership under 90 minutes. Rick, his sales associate Joe, and Peter from the finance department were all very knowledgeable and friendly. I checked out 3 or 4 dealerships around LA and this was the one that had the best pricing by far, so I highly recommend them!
Been reading this forum for a while as a guest. Finally decided to take the plunge and lease a Volt. The Buying/Leasing subforum has been a great resource in this regard. Started shopping around San Diego for the best deal and got the run around from one dealer (totally "highballing" me); two others were better and similarly priced for the same vehicle (however this was after some negotiation, which I absolutely hate). The whole process in San Diego took almost a week to get a couple of quotes that "seemed" OK, and neither dealer would budge any further. Never thought about shopping outside of San Diego until I saw this thread about Rick Alpern and Keyes Chevrolet in L.A. On a whim I called Rick and he answered his cell phone right away. He spoke with me for quite a while and was very pleasant. The quote was no nonsense, there was not haggling. Not sure if the exact numbers for the discounts talked about in this thread are exactly right (i.e. $4000 off MSRP), but they are pretty darn close. No one came close in San Diego. The price Rick quoted for the car I was looking at was ~$35/mo less than the cheapest I could find in San Diego. Just want everyone to know that what you have been reading about in this thread is absolutely true. The quotes were so good that I decided to splurge and get a Volt with NAV instead. It cost me about $11 more than what the Volts in San Diego would have cost me without NAV. Drove up Saturday afternoon and back in San Diego with my new Volt Saturday evening. If you don't like to haggle and already have an idea of what is a fair price for the Volt you want, give Rick a call. It will be well worth your time. For all the nay sayers out there...........this is no B.S. Believe it or not, I actually enjoying signing my contract and am extremely satisfied. In three years I may be making the drive back up there. And as an aside, salesman Joe C. was the most knowledgable guy I had the opportunity to speak with during this whole process of shopping for my lease. Kudos to Joe, you rock! and you too Rick :-)
Hi everyone, I picked up my Volt from Keyes a few days ago. Add me to the list of customers who received the $2500 deal from Rick and his team. Have had a good experience so far, but the most important part for me is a quick DMV registration/HOV sticker process so I'm keeping fingers crossed that they can process registration quickly and smoothly.
For the past month or two, I talked to my wife and we were deciding whether to purchase/lease either a Plug In Prius (PIP) or Chevy Volt because I need the solo HOV lane sticker to commute to and rom work. I used to own a 2006 Prius and about 7 months ago, we sold it with 150k+ miles and bought a Prius V. We have nothing but praise for the Prius. Aside from a couple minor recall issues and the reliabiligy hype from some false accusations, there are no complaints. I also had a 3 day test drive of a Volt at a former employer. The PIP and Volt are both great cars. Neither is perfect but one may suit you better depending on the range you drive and your ability to charge in between destinations. The old Ally lease deal was great with about $2,700 down and $369 per month. After running the calculations on the gas savings, it was still a bit of a toss up between the PIP and Volt. To get back on track, we decided to purchase a vehicle rather than lease so for the past month or two while I was trying to sell my old car, we had plans to get a PIP As much as I liked the Volt, I was concerned about the new technology for Chevy and was concerned about reliability. Although plug in is new for Prius, Toyota had significant experience with hybrids and their reliability was great.
So last night I saw the new Ally lease deal with $2,529 due at signing and $269 per month. So wife and I talk some more and we decide to try this option. Now I was a little skeptical when CTS-V-Twin rants about how great Rick at Keyes was. Last night I emailed Rick asking about what he has available and whether he'd honor the $2,500 below invoice price. Rick responded to my email asking when I would be able to go in. I responded and left him an email and a voice message on his cell phone. When I arrived at Keyes, I find out that Rick is on vacation today. Asaf is there when I come in and he says he is assisting Rick. So they honor the $2,500 under invoice price but when they bring back the lease figures, it didn't exactly look right so I question them and they make the corrections. I can only presume it was an innocent mistake since they willingly made the corrections. Just make sure you do your research on the full lease terms just to make sure no honest mistakes happen to you. So far, this sounds like a pretty typical customer satisfied, customer buys the car story since I ended up leasing my base $39,995 MSRP Volt for less money down and less monthly payments than the advertised Ally deal.
However, I left out a few important details. Rick was out on vacation so he wasn't in. Even though he was out on vacation and out of cell phone coverage range, he called me back and returned emails when he was able to get back into range. He made sure I was well taken care of and even called the Manager on duty to confirm my $2,500 below invoice price. There was also a minor issue with my credit which Rick personally called Ally to resolve the issue and get me approved for the lease deal without any hassle, all this while he was out on vacation. He even sent me texts throughout the process to make sure things were progressing properly and I was being taken care of. Rick went above and beyond excellent customer service while he was on vacation to make sure I was treated well and the lease went through. I definitely give two big thumbs up for the service at Keyes and the professionalism of Rick and his associates. They have a good selection and will honor the $2,500 below invoice price (but likely not forever so if you're interested, you should act now).
Make sure you mention the GM-Volt forum and make sure you talk to Rick by cell phone or by email and he'll definitely take care of you. Asaf was very helpful also so you can talk to him and mention the GM-Volt forum and he should be able to honor the price also. Thank you CTS-V-Twin for your great recommendation of Rick and Keyes that sounded too over the top to be real but you quickly made a believer out of me. Now it's time for you to claim your Volt if you don't already have one. I am leasing a great car with lease pricing of about a Honda Civic or Accord, I will get a green car pool stick to drive in the HOV lane solo, I will also save a ton of cash on gasoline and I will be helping save the environment at the same time!
I went to Keyes Chevrolet and Rick made me a deal I couldn't refuse...at least not easily! We finished the paperwork late and it required a dealer trade, so I'll pick up my 2012 Volt tomorrow (Tuesday).
He gave me the best deal I could expect on my underwater trade-in, matched all the right numbers I found online for a 2-year lease with 12,000-miles on an MSRP of $45,170 (i.e., 0.00042 money factor, $29,399.50 residual value, etc.), and was very professional and courteous.
Add me to the list of satisfied Keyes Chevrolet customers!
Add me to the list of Keyes customers. Great deal.
I've been following this thread for 2 weeks. I contacted Rick at Keyes and communicated via phone, email and text. Lease deal was as noted in this thread. I confirmed specs and numbers Monday (23 July 2012) evening. I flew down from Monterey early the next morning and was picked up at BUR by Asaf (part of Rick's team who handled my delivery) and driven to the dealership. I inspected the VOLT, did the paperwork, went through orientation with Asaf and was on the road for my 5 hour drive home by 12:30.
Rick and his team were very professional, answered all questions and made it a smooth transaction...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
So I was a little suspicious about all the Keyes mentions - even wondering if they were padding the threads themselves.
*However*, I was dealing on phone and email with four SoCal dealers and no one even came close to the Keyes deal even after pressing the others multiple times with "I will come buy a car today if you give me a better deal". I did mention that I was a volt forum member (well, lurker at that point), and their lease deal was always considerably lower (especially with stock on hand). I wonder if the other dealers might have budged if I had gone in person with a check in hand - but Keyes cuts out all the BS for forum members. Asaf was *awesome*. In the end, I got a fully loaded car for lower than the price of other dealer's base car deals.
Also, I was in a bit of a rush as my wife was past due with our first child, and the whole thing from first txt contact to drive-off was less than 18 hours. We had our son the next day, drove him home in the Volt and to his first two Dr appts. I mention this because he has never in his life traveled in a car under gasoline power! (an aside: he will hopefully live to see the 22nd Century!).
Thanks again to Asaf and the whole Keyes team!
Rick at Keyes Chevy, L.A. really took care of my dad on his new 2012 fully loaded white diamond Volt. My dad took delivery of his new Volt today and he couldn't be happier! He loves his new car! Thanks Rick!!!
If you or anyone is looking for a new Volt, give Rick at Keyes a call, NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE!!! It's worth a 5 minute phone call. You really have nothing to lose. I think my dad is the 11th or 12th forum member since the middle of June that has purchased through Rick at Keyes. Everyone seems to be very happy!!!
He can be reached directly on his cell at: 818-231-1286. Call or text him anytime! The guy is unbelieveable in his customer service and best of all...HIS DEALS! They seriously can't be beat! I tried almost every dealer in Southern California and he beat them all, BY A LOT!!
My 2013 Volt just came in from the factory today and I was super excited to take it home! All I can say is that this car is simply amazing and just awesome in everyway! I love it! NO MORE GAS STATION STOPS!!!
I would really like to personally thank Rick Alpern, the general manager of Keyes Chevrolet for assisting me on my deal. I had a trade in which isn't always an easy transaction, but he made it seamless!
I love my new Volt!!
I had a very good experience at Keyes. Only spoke to Shawn on the phone, but he was knowledgeable and not pushy at all. Rick was great, receptive, and prices were exactly as promised - good deal! Maurice was very, very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with.
Dear Mr. Rick Alpern:
I bought a 2010 Chevy Malibu from your dealership the forth week in February. When I came to the dealership with my boyfriend, I was not sure that I wanted to buy a car that day. You were the first person to approach us, and you were so personable and informative, that we were immediately put at ease. We took a test drive with car sales person, Mike, and were impressed with all of the extras that came with the car, how it handled, and just the general value for the price. Peter, "the financial guy", was also very patient and cheerful. He carefully answered any questions that I had about the monthly payments, or if there were penalties for paying more quickly. Overall, everyone at the dealership was so nice and well-mannered, I will definitely recommend your dealership to friends.
Finally, when I took the car home to show to my family, they couldn't believe the price! We had all been in Pasadena the day before for my grandmother's birthday and had walked to a dealership near the restaurant where we were eating. We had seen a similar car for about 4,000 more than the sticker price at Keyes, and it wasn't even fully loaded! We are very happy with our new car.
