Another very satisfied KEYES customer!! I have been following several of the threads on this forum over the last 2 weeks or so (as well as reading a number of prior ones) and pulled the trigger today on a Volt from KEYES Chevy in Van Nuys, California. After trading several messages with Shawn, I texted and then spoke to the GM Rick Alpern by phone. He assured me the car I was looking for was on the lot and promised he would be there waiting for me and my wife when we arrived. My wife and I got there early and waited a few minutes for Rick to come out. He greeted us and personally walked us out onto the lot. As it turns out, they had a number of Volts which had just arrived. Rick spent about 15 minutes with us, as my wife decided which color and options she wanted (since there were a number to choose from) and then went back to the dealership and sent a dedicated Volt salesperson -- Tony -- out to meet with us.
Tony was great from the moment he greeted us until the moment he sent us home in the vehicle. Very knowledgeable about the car and a good sense of humor to boot. My wife ended up deciding to go with black with pebble interior. We took the car for a test drive with Tony and he showed us a lot of different features on the vehicle. We then went back to the showroom, completed the paperwork and the deal was exactly as advertised on the forum (see Shawn's earlier post regarding current offerings).
As we waited for the paperwork to be completed, Rick personally came over and chatted with us for about 30 minutes. After deciding on a vehicle and completing the test drive, it took about 90 minutes or so to have the paperwork completed and the deal done and then Tony spent additional time going over various features of the car.
Long story short: the deal was as advertised and everyone we met at Keyes (including Serge in finance) could not have been nicer and more pleasant to deal with. Based on the other activity in the showroom, my impression is that they moved 3-4 other Volts today alone (perhaps more) and they had a lot of colors and packages to choose from. Can't recommend them highly enough!! Oh, and the car, is awesome, but I guess that goes without saying!! Thanks Shawn for the heads up about KEYES and thanks to Rick, Tony and the rest of the KEYES staff -- all of whom made it a truly enjoyable car shopping experience!!.
My positive buying experience with Keyes was less than two weeks ago. Since then the positive experience continues. I've owned/leased 17 cars in my lifetime. I have NEVER been more excited about a vehicle since my first vehicle as a 16 year old in 1977 (a '68 Pontiac Firebird). This Volt is absolutely amazing and when asked about it, I have to refrain from gushing.
Today, after just 12 days of ownership and 400 miles on the odometer, my plates arrived. This is remarkable, as my previous vehicles (from Fords to BMW's) all took at least 60-90 days to arrive. Nice job Keyes! I thought it would be months before I could apply for my carpool lane sticker (you must have plates/DMV registration before you can apply). I just popped the forms in the mail. No doubt the DMV wont be as efficient as Keyes! Now the wait for my vanity plates: "20 AMPS". Watch for me in the Valley and Hollywood.
Just leased from Keyes - one LA local's experience I have been researching the Volt for months but had not had the time until this week to really shop around and test different dealers' approaches to making their Volt customers happy. The caveat is that I do live in downtown Los Angeles, so I'm sure I'm in the best environment there is for finding a great local deal.
I chose to buckle down and find a car this weekend because of the huge cap cost rebate on the 2012 models and every dealer prioritizing the movement of those old models. Initially I was looking for a 2012 base Volt in black with a 36/12 lease, thinking this would get me the best deal. Most local dealers were willing to do that lease for around $1400 down and $325/month. I felt really good, then, when Harbor Chevrolet in Long Beach had a price that allowed them to do that lease for $1500 down and $272/month. Upon reconsidering my mileage requirements, to be on the safe side I decided I wanted a 15k lease, not 12, and Harbor could do that for just slightly higher cash down and $300/month, still by far a better deal than I could get anywhere else - or so I thought. I was ready to go pick it up last night (Fri 8/17/12), but the car had been on display at a local AAA so I had to wait until today.
However, no sooner did I go searching for tips on my soon-to-be-leased 2012 Volt than I stumbled across these forums and saw Shawn's post about the deals on fully loaded 2013s that Rick Alpern is offering at Keyes. This is like 8:15PM in LA - 45 minutes to close for Keyes. I texted Rick and he immediately texted back with a variety of options on a 15,000-mile lease, one of which was $2500 down and $283/month on a 24-month lease. This was the first time I'd been aware that the payments on a 2-year lease could be LOWER than a 3-year. I texted Rick some questions and around 9:30PM, on his way home, he called me and walked me through the high-volume Volt business he is trying to do and the structure of the leases. He had three loaded 2013 Volts in hand as of last night, two in my preferred black color, and assured me that one could be mine if I showed up when they opened at 8:30 this morning. Sure enough, I arrived at 8:20 this morning to find Rick already in work mode. He warmly greeted me and my girlfriend and to make a short story even shorter, I drove away in a brand new black 2013 Volt with every option except premium wheels at 10:30 this morning. Final stats on the deal, after I opted for Ally's $829 SmartLease protection: 24 months, 15,000 miles, $3029 down, $287/month (w/o lease protection was $2500 down, $283/month). Rick and his finance guy Sergio couldn't have been nicer, more helpful, or more focused on getting me out of there in my new Volt with the minimum amount of hassle. I can't imagine the myriad extra factors the search process takes on for folks outside LA and sympathize with those who have been stuck waiting for weeks or months on QC holds and other delays. But for this Los Angeles local, Rick and Keyes have delivered just about the perfect, approximately 12-hour soup-to-nuts experience this customer could have hoped for. Thanks to the forum for being such a great resource; I look forward to staying engaged in the next months and years to get the most out of my - have to say it one more time while pinching myself - FULLY LOADED 2013 VOLT.
I finally took delivery of my fully loaded 2013 Volt ordered in July. First, I would like to thank Rick for ordering my car with the exact colors and options. He let me lock in a great deal on Sept. 4. He also made sure that my car would be ready for me to pick up in such a short notice (my car arrived dealership on Wednesday and I picked it up Friday morning). During my life time so far (I am a senior), I have purchased many new vehicles but this is my best car-buying experience and the best deal I received from a car dealer. The transaction was smooth without any hassle.
Thanks also go to Asaf who met me at Burbank Airport and took care of all details of delivering my car. I also appreciate Sergio who did all the sales paper works. There are more paper works than in 2008 when I bought a new Camry Hybrid. Lastly, I also want to thank Shawn and all other forum members who have posted valuable info in regards to great deals on buying and leasing a new Volt. I love my Volt. So far, I have only driven 340 miles but the estimate electric miles from the battery already shows 38 miles with a fully charged battery. I think I can easily get over 40 miles per charge later when I break the car in. Attached are two pictures showing my new Volt.
Asaf and Sergio rock. I wanted a 2012 Silver Ice fully loaded model. At the time Keyes only had 2013 models, and while I would have had the newest and latest, I like the black roof and hatch accents (especially with silver). Well, Asaf cast a net far and wide and found my car in Costa Mesa ~100 mile round-trip for him. No problem, he drove down and picked it up for me!
Great buying experience at Keyes. I love my Volt. Just turned 1000 on the odometer. Gas cost since my purchase five weeks ago; $0.00 . Great buying experience at Keyes. I love my Volt. Just turned 1000 on the odometer. Gas cost since my purchase five weeks ago; $0.00 Keyes Chevrolet - helping America drive Volt happily.
New 2013 Volt from Keyes Chevrolet It has taken me a couple of days to post--been very busy getting up to speed on 240 vs 120 charging and multiple rebates etc. etc
We just leased a 2013 Summit White, black interior-base model with add of Safety Package. 36 month lease, $3,000 drive off, $240 a month (without sales tax). I shopped all over Central and Northern Calif., ended up leasing with Keyes. They are very fluent in "Volt Speak" and were great to deal with. They were able to have Joe deliver the car to us up here in central CA. Rick Alperin and Joe were both straight forward and very savvy re: Ally leases etc.
Here in the San Joaquin Valley, the Volt qualifies for an additional $2,000 rebate in addition to the $1,500 from the state of California. Add the gasoline savings and the lease payment is almost a negative number. Best of all, we are loving the Volt!!
Like Patti, I am a little late in posting my purchase at Keyes a week ago. My wife and I drove the 450 miles from Chandler AZ to deal with Rick. It was a fantastic experience. Even got to meet and talk to Shawn who was very nice and informative. We purchased a '13 Cyber Red w/Pebble Beige leather and fully loaded. Got the deal you've seen here several times ($2500 below invoice with another $500 off for signing the 60 day return waiver). Mine was a purchase and I had no problem signing the waiver because I've been following the Volt on the forum and anywhere else I could get info and knew I would love it-which I do. I am still pondering which way I will go for the level 2 charger. As I posted yesterday about my quote from SPX, I can buy the Voltec and install it myself for about $90 less than my portion of the cost for the Blink. Any feedback along those lines would be appreciated. Thanks for putting up with my ramble.
Excellent service from Keyes Chevy today... I have a 2013 Volt charging in my garage thanks to Rick and Joe from Keyes Chevy out of California. I offered to write this post based on their surprising level of service.
I'm in AZ and had worked with a dealer in Scottsdale. I wanted something specific and after the dealer realized I was not going to buy one of their 2012's, they agreed to grab a 2013 from CA. I was told it would take 7 days, which turned into 20. I sold my CTS-V in the meantime, on their recommendation, and was paying for a rental at this point. I finally gave up on them and because of this forum, reached out to Rick at Keyes on a Saturday.
Rick gave me the details on the volume of Volt sales his location does and his goal to be the number one Volt dealer in the country. I gave him the details of what I wanted and he stated he had "three of those coming in." Again, I had just been through the same story with a different dealer and wanted assurance. He offered to send me pictures of the car when it arrived on Tuesday. I agreed and we went over lease options. I volunteered that I would also be checking with other states to see what they could provide. Rick offered to put one of his guys in the car and drive it to my office. I would then get his salesman, Joe, a plane ticket back home.
On Monday, Rick text pictures of the exact car I asked for, a day early. Had it been earlier in the day, it would have been already on the road to me. To my surprise, Joe started his trip to AZ at 5am this morning and showed up at my office before lunch. We did the paperwork in my lobby and he was on a plane and hour later. Joe said he would have time to sell another one before the dealership closed tonight. My team could not believe the dealer drove the car out on a verbal handshake. He even drove it part of the way in Hold Mode to ensure it had battery left for the test drive.
Due to my prior experience, I somewhat expected there to be an unfortunate surprise...a scratch, a higher payment, unexpected fees...none of that happened. Everything was exactly what we had discussed via text and voicemail.
I've bought a ton of cars, some at twice as much as the price of the Volt. I've shipped cars from the East Coast and just across town. I've simply never had a transaction that was this easy with the level of service this dealer delivered on.
Thank you to the members of this forum and to Keyes Chevy.
